Wow, as I sit here typing this post, I am in shock and awe about Craft for a Cause this year! We were able to get double the donations, triple the sponsors, and raise enough money for triple the amount of AED’s. Now, I might be jinxing myself here, by show boating how proud I am of how the event went, but I guess, I am ok with it because it was a group effort. I am beyond grateful to everyone especially our sponsors
Sponsors for Craft for a Cause
We are so grateful for their second year sponsoring. May Oberfell Lorber is a law firm specializing in everything but criminal work. Also, if you go to their site, you may spot my husband on the homepage’s slideshow. wink wink!
Specializes in babies, families, and Senior portraits. If you hang out on my site you will see Barb’s pictures of my kids and my family on my About page.
Howard also known as “Howie” is a retiree from California, who enjoys helping the community. He is a huge University of Michigan fan. We are so grateful for his generosity in donating to Craft for a Cause this year.
Craft for a Cause Donations
It brings tears to my eyes just thinking of all the donations we were able to secure. The week prior to Craft for a Cause I instagramed some pictures of donations…
You may or may not know my love for Matilda Jane Clothing, but it runs deep! Last year I hosted a Matilda Jane St. Patrick’s Themed Trunk show. It was a blast! Not only do I L.O.V.E. their clothing, but I adore the company’s heart. They are one of the most giving companies I know of! They donate clothing to African children and so many others in need. Such a wonderful company! I mean seriously! I also love them because they are from Indiana too! Yay, just a hop a skip and jump from our house!

Perhaps you have noticed, but this winter has been quite treacherous…lol! How could you miss it, lol! Anways, we went to bed that night with the snow pouring down. Apparently, it never stopped. We woke up in the morning and there was TONS of snow, pretty much every activity, SAT/ACT tests, sports events, etc… were cancelled. The venue we had Craft for a Cause at said they would be open and the event would go on. So, we went ahead with the event. I seriously almost cried. I had visions of myself, my mom and dad, aunts and uncles, cousins and my husband hanging out at the event together….just us crafting away. But it didn’t happen that way. Luckily, every single person except like 7 people showed up! It was incredible!! I was so overwhelmed with love.
People arrived, signed in, and then ate. Once everyone had arrived I did my best with the announcements. I have to admit, this is a very emotional event for me. Heart related issues run in my husband’s family along with mine. I had someone very close to me almost pass away twice from heart attacks. It was the second time that I decided “Every Day is an Occasion” and it must be cherished because you never know what the day holds or the next day for that matter. That day changed my life forever and I decided that I would help, that I needed to help…heart disease is the number 1 killer among Americans. So, yes, I get emotional when I talk about this event. I must say, I did warn the attendees before I spoke that I might get emotional and it’s ok!
Everyone had a blast making the wreath, even my cute friend, Sara. She is the sweetest! She wore this scarf for me because it has hearts all over and we were raising money for AED’s! What a doll she is!!
Craft for a Cause Wreaths in their Homes
I love seeing what we made at Craft for a Cause in peoples’ homes. So, once they were hung up people tagged me on Instagram and I got to see them. Here are just a few…didn’t they do an awesome job?! Love them all!!!
We raised enough money for 3 AED’s to be donated to our community. Heartreach Michiana was very grateful for our donation. They put on a breakfast in October and distribute all the AED’s they have raised money for that year. Our fundraiser is just one fundraiser that happens. The recipients of the AED will learn how to use them at the breakfast. The AED we donated last year went to Christ the King Lutheran Church. They are so grateful for the AED. They are happy they haven’t had to use it yet, but are very grateful it is there if they need it.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and reading a little bit about where my heart is.
