I have a confession….I am a bit of a nostalgia nut! Some may call it hoarding, but I like to call it being a nostalgia nut! ha! Now before you start thinking I’m going to be the next contestant on hoarders, just know that I like to organize too….and I do get into major organizing moods where I just start pitching stuff…so I’m not that bad! Anyways…I received a Christmas present inside this chest when I was in high school…
I can even prove it….I found the tag and my mom dated it so I know for sure it was from high school! Craziness! Anyways, I LOVE this little chest and so when my son celebrated his first Christmas, I decided it needed to become a Christmas book chest!
There are all kinds of fun books inside but here a few highlights;)
From the top left- clockwise
1. These are all board books that we enjoy and my little Lilly likes to sit and “read” by herself
2. Elf is a cute storybook that actually came with the movie
3. This book has a recorder in it and my parents’ recorded their voices saying the story! Very cool!
4. This book is actually mine (the best Christmas story of all) and it doesn’t stay in the chest because it could easily be ruined…let me show you why…
…so you see why? It’s a pop up book that is the most amazing book I’ve ever read! The intricacy and creativeness just blow me away!
My kids were super excited when I brought the chest up from the basement. I told them that I had a surprise and I would be right back with it. When I came up from the basement my son said, “Yo Ho, Way to go!” ….he thought it looked like a treasure chest;) Here they are diving into their Christmas Book chest….
Our dog even had to come over to see what the fuss was all about…
So there you have it friends, our Christmas book chest….do you have a fun Christmas book tradition?
I have seen where people do an advent book for the month of December…that is cute.
Oh and no my mom did not make this chest when she gave it to me, but I was thinking how fun would it be to decorate a chest using modpodge and scrapbook paper or to paint it for a birthday book chest…hmm…I may just have to do that!
Have a SUPER fun day!

What a darling Idea! We’ve been reading Christmas stories almost every night and it seems like I spend even more time trying to track them down! How great to have them all in one place!
